Anesthesia is the hysteresis case. Processed EEG lags plasma concentration in N01, so the link is an effect site with an equilibration rate constant k_e0 [1]. One effect compartment failed to describe the bispectral index across different propofol infusion rates; a two-compartment effect site succeeded [2].
